KĀPITI COAST
The Kāpiti Coast is an important part of the Wellington Region, located in the lower North Island of New Zealand. It lies approximately 50 kilometers to the north of Wellington, which is the Capital of New Zealand. This picturesque district is comprised of a series of charming coastal towns that stretch along State Highway One, including Ōtaki, Te Horo, Waikanae, Paraparaumu, Raumati Beach, Raumati South, and the delightful village of Paekākāriki. Each town has its own unique character, making the Kāpiti Coast a wonderful area to explore and enjoy.
KĀPITI ISLAND
The full original name for the island, Ko te Waewae-Kapiti-o-Tara-rāua-ko-Rangitāne, meaning "the boundary of Tara and Rangitāne", refers to it as a place where the rohe (territories) of Ngāi Tara (now known as Muaūpoko) and Rangitāne iwi adjoined each other.

KAPITI ISLAND NATURE TOUR
Probably the number one destination for visiting Paraparaumu, especially if you are a wildlife enthusiast. The Kapiti Island is home to many endangered birds and one of the oldest and most important nature reserves in New Zealand. T he tours usually operates from September to May and the ferry departure point is just a minute walk from the motel. You can join the day tour or stay overnight in a lodge. Please note that the tour is subject to weather conditions which the operators will update you once you have booked. ESCARPMENT TRACK
A popular and scenic trail that runs from Paekākāriki to Pukerua Bay, the track spans a distance of 9.1 kilometres and reaches an elevation of up to 217 meters above sea level at its highest point. To make the most of your experience, we recommend driving to Paekākāriki, then taking the train to Pukerua Bay, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely walk back along the stunning track. PARAPARAUMU GOLF CLUB
Regarded by many as one of the greatest links courses in the entire southern hemisphere, this world-renowned golfing course is an absolute must-go destination for any golf enthusiast looking to thoroughly test their skills and abilities. Designed by the talented former Australian Open champion Alex Russell, this beautiful and challenging course has proudly hosted the prestigious New Zealand Open a remarkable 12 times, including a notable event in 2002 when the legendary golfer Tiger Woods made a special appearance.
COASTLANDS SHOPPING CENTRE
Opened in 1969, the Coastlands Shopping Centre features a diverse and extensive range of shops, delightful cafés, as well as a spacious food court and a cinema for entertainment. You can also find large retailers such as Harvey Norman, The Warehouse, and Briscoes all conveniently located within a short walking distance of each other. Additionally, the Coastlands Aquatic Centre and Paraparaumu Library are both situated in the same area. These establishments are popular destinations for families looking to enjoy a relaxing afternoon, particularly on a rainy day when indoor activities are preferred.

NGĀ MANU NATURE RESERVE
Just 18 minutes from our motel, the 14-hectare reserve is one of the largest coastal swamp forests on the Kapiti Coast. It is home to over 56 bird species, making it ideal for birdwatchers and nature lovers. You can find unique New Zealand wildlife here, like the Kiwi and Tuatara. The reserve has wheelchair-friendly facilities and well-kept paths, perfect for families with young kids. On summer weekends and public holidays, guests can enjoy guided forest tours or an eel feeding at 2 p.m. For a memorable wildlife experience, you can even stay overnight in the cozy cottage within the reserve.
SOUTHWARD CAR MUSEUM
Boasting an impressive collection of 450 diverse vehicles, including some truly rare and classic models that enthusiasts will appreciate, as well as several fascinating aircraft on display, the Southward Car Museum stands out as a world-class automobile collection that you certainly do not want to miss. In addition to the stunning displays of beautifully restored vintage cars, there is also a picturesque small bush walk loop conveniently located just behind the exhibition hall, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely and refreshing stroll amidst nature.
